YOUNG FOSSIL has found a permanent home in PLACE, situated on a plot of farm land in North Wexford which will be a new rural creative community workspace. YOUNG FOSSIL is the first building to be assembled on the land. It was created from the assembly of nine abstract seating structures commissioned for the gardens of IMMA in Dublin in 2021. The forms Jigsaw together to create a simple building.
Artist additions to the original structures are still evident on the interior walls and roof of the building. YOUNG FOSSIL currently sits in its sculptural form awaiting its new yet to be determined function.
PLACE, Ballyfad, Wexford is directed by Julianna Walters.
YOUNG FOSSIL artist additions by David Lunney, Liliane Puthod, Daniel Tuomey, Stéphane Béna Hanly, Fiona Gannon, and Matthew Lenkiewicz & Pauline Payen.
